Voluntary christmas card example.

Image
This shows an example of a range of Christmas cards I have designed and sold for a local crafts business I am involved in. I used card and used either a black fine liner and water. I used a sketchy and 'artsy' style to the cards, to show an interesting and perhaps to provide a more handmade element to the cards. I enjoyed this as I feel proud when seeing people appreciating my work, especially on a level enough to buy my designs.

Voluntary logo.

Image
This shows a logo I designed for my college for the smoothie bar business. I was given a brief to work against and designed an idea that was chosen over many others. The logo was originally designed using a simple drawing using a felt tip. I then used this basic design to create a more refined and usable logo using Adobe Illustrator. This logo is now used on many things such as aprons and the cups.

Developed Digital Snitterjipe

Image
This shows a further development of my Snitterjipe, I used my drawings and sketches to have a main idea. I then used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create a digital illustration. Using the pen tool for the shape of the face, and a drawing tablet for the 'mane' like feature and teeth. For this, I used a simple and clean cut style, with white negative space as the outlines. I think this creates a much more animated and cartoon like character due to the flat colour and simple shapes.

Developed ideas on The Snitterjipe.

Image
This shows a developed and more recent ideas page of the Snitterjipe. This page helped towards my decision on what direction I am following to create my creature. I decided I liked this sketches feature more than the others, following a more cartoon like and animated theme, I think the large facial features and 'mane' like element added to my decision. I used a black fine liner to firstly drw the sketch but also to build up the shapes and layer lines to show a more detailed and refined drawing.

First idea pages.

Image
This shows my preliminary sketches and ideas of what The Snitterjipe looks like, based on the basic description in the poem. I explored many variations of the creature, with different animal like features and shapes etc. I used a black fine liner pen ad drew in a quick way to show movement and my initial first reactions to the poem.

Hand drawn comic strips.

Image
This shows my first attempt of sketching a comic based on the poem for 'The Snitterjipe project'. After researching and learning about many different elements and types of comics. I used a black fine liner to firstly draw the basic shape and layout of my comic strip, I then drew the basic scene and ideas to represent the poem and my ideas. After this, I added the text to complete the comic strip and show a more in depth idea of layout etc.

Positive/negative typography.

Image
This shows an experimental page for type. I used multiple coloured tissue paper and tore them into strips. I then used glue to place and layer these onto a piece of card to create an interesting and colourful piece. I then cut the shape of the letter out, this lead to a positive and negative version of the same letter.
